The role of Digital Business Analyst in the Service Design team of the Business Transformation Unit for Lewes District and Eastbourne Borough Councils supports the councils to improve the way we offer our services to our customers. With a digital by default approach to our work, we strive to improve the customer and user experience in the services we offer through the use of technology and improved ways of working.
This is an exciting time to be joining the team as we are delivering a large-scale change programme called the Recovery and Stabilisation portfolio. Successful applicants will help shape the future direction of the councils and how we do what we do.
As part of the portfolio, we will be looking at what systems we use as well as the ways of working within our business units. We have completed a corporate restructure into a new operating model which the successful applicants will help to embed with the business processes they design.

The councils have recently made the move to a predominantly remote workforce, with home working being the default for the majority of employees. As such, we are actively seeking applications from candidates irrespective of where they live in the country. We currently have employees in Wales, Cornwall and Scotland, so distance is not an issue - we only require you to hold legal status to work in the UK. From time to time, there will be a need to come into the Lewes or Eastbourne office, but we only anticipate this as being, on average, 3 times a year.
What you will be doing
You will have a strong background of business analysis methodology, techniques and documentation, including:
- Requirements gathering
- Process mapping
- Data analysis
- Stakeholder management and engagement
As one of our Digital Business Analysts, you will build the processes you design in our customer relationship management (CRM) system. This technical aspect of the role includes building:
- Process workflows
- Information gathering scripts for our contact centre staff
- Online forms for our website
- Outgoing documents from the councils (physical and digital)
- Incoming documents for the councils (physical and digital)
- Automation between systems, collaborating with colleagues in our IT team
Once all applications have been submitted, we will be shortlisting and contacting those who have secured an interview. This is a 1 tier interview process so we will be interviewing all shortlisted applicants once and then making a decision as a panel on who to appoint to the role. We are hiring for 1 vacancy in the Digital Business Analyst role as part of this recruitment process.
The starting salary will be from £24,423 to £25,919 depending on your experience and qualifications.
Interviews will take place on Tuesday 16th and Wednesday 17th of August 2022.
