The Team/Role 

The position of Business Administrator in the Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Casework team. 

The post holder will be expected to work as part of a busy SEND Casework team. This requires self-organisation, flexibility and adaptability to support the delivery and day to day running of the SEND Team in order to meet statutory duties.  The primary duties and responsibilities of this role are to ensure that accurate records are kept and that good standards of communication are provided. General administrative duties include, although are not limited to, dealing with and responding to a variety of telephone and email contacts, ensuring accurate message-taking or appropriate sign-posting and responding accurately to standard Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs); co-ordinating documentation for decision making panel meetings; placing orders for equipment; preparing and sending out communication by post and dealing with incoming post; occasionally taking notes at meetings. 

 

What you need for this role: 

  • GCSE grade C English Language, grade C Mathematics (or recognised equivalent)  
  • A demonstrable standard of numeracy to the level of completing accurate and appropriate arithmetic and statistical calculations without need for advice & support. 
  • An excellent demonstrable standard of working with a variety of ICT systems and software, including Microsoft Office suite (i.e. SharePoint and Excel). Experience of using an Education Management System (e.g. Capita One) is desirable. 
  • Business support experience of working in an Education and/or local authority arena is desirable 
  • Experience in basic collection, extraction and processing of data is desirable 
  • Previous office-based customer service or administration experience 
  • High Standard of demonstrable communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Understand the rules of strict confidentiality and professional boundaries 
  • Ability to work under pressure and set and meet pre-determined deadlines where they may change at short notice 
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative with high levels of accuracy with minimal supervision
