Senior Social Worker - Breaking the Cycle

We have an exciting opportunity here in Birmingham Children’s Trust, to become a Therapeutic Practitioner in the Breaking the Cycle Service (senior social worker, Grade 5)

Breaking the Cycle is a therapeutic service for those who have lost a child through adoption and want to access support.  Our service aims to reduce the trauma associated with adoption, preventing future adoptions where possible, building healthy relationships and improving lives. Our Therapeutic Practitioners are all senior social workers who are passionate about making a difference and hold their social work core values at the heart of the work they undertake.

We are looking for a senior social worker who is passionate and committed to providing support to some of the most vulnerable adults in society. The role will enable you to be part of breaking the cycle of recurrent care proceedings in order to help children remain with their parents and family, where safe to do so. Some adoption experience is helpful to inform this role. In addition, it is desirable to have some foundational therapeutic qualifications in Dyadic Developmental Practice, Theraplay or therapeutic life story work.

For further information please contact the Team Manager Joanne Rogers via email at and leave a name and contact number to arrange a convenient time for an informal discussion.
