An exciting new opportunity has become available at Buckinghamshire Unitary Council in supporting our strategic delivery in place shaping and economic growth. A new post has been created to work at a senior level across Council teams and in support of key partners in delivering an ambitious programme of skills investment initiatives.
Aligned with ambitions and an improved skills delivery offer for Buckinghamshire as set out by the Buckinghamshire Growth Board and the Skills Advisory Panel, this role will work across local and national partners to set out the strategy to take this forward. The initial phase of work will be to take current aspirations for addressing key sector workforce shortages and needed reductions in Buckinghamshire's claimant count, and to develop and launch an expanded partnership skills programme.
About the role
A successful candidate will need to exhibit strong leadership and influencing skills and be comfortable operating in a complex stakeholder environment. This will be through:
- Establishing new innovative partnerships with education providers and key employers for the delivery of targeted training and dynamic employment matching for 'hard to fill' roles and address sector workforce shortages
- Providing policy advice, analysis and research in relation to delivery
- Playing a leading role in complex and politically sensitive projects
- Developing and utilising a good understanding of the stakeholders and various agendas
- Reporting on, influencing and progressing significant objectives
- Ensuring that silos are broken down and directorate cross cutting strategic objectives are delivered
- Supporting the development of solutions to arising issues with projects and/or key workforce strategic objectives
- Operating effectively across a range of senior council officers, Gov't department, politicians, and strategic stakeholders and delivery partners.
- Establishing and embedding an effective project and strategy management model, based on trust, clarity of accountability, and a shared understanding of purpose and outcomes
- Driving positive and significant change across a number of high priority and profile areas
As an 'any-desk' worker, you'll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required. You will be required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements*.

Our Planning, Growth and Sustainability directorate work with partners to help shape the future of Buckinghamshire. We deliver services on planning, economic growth, regeneration, strategic infrastructure, transport and property.
