Job introduction

Are you passionate about learning and organisational development?

Are you able to build and maintain influential relationships, collaborate and work effectively in partnership with a diverse range of stakeholders at all levels of the organisation?

Do you want to be part of a significant culture change project, supporting us to fully adopt more flexible ways of working and upskills our staff in digital skills for the future?

If so, consider applying for the role of Lead Consultant with us!

This fixed term role will oversee our Future Ways of Working programme, supporting us to:

  • Get the greatest benefit from flexible working arrangements - for both the business and staff
  • Look at how we might get the most effective use of accommodation and lead any culture change that comes from that
  • Improve the workplace offer to support hybrid working, collaboration and working with partners
  • Improve digital skills and address barriers to inclusion within ways of working

It's a role with a lot of variety and possibility for you to really make a difference to the experience of a large number of people within Brighton & Hove City Council!

Interviews will take place during the week of 29 August

For an informal discussion, please email Amy Newnham, Head of OD and Learning (amy.newnham@brighton-hove.gov.uk).

About the role

About you

We’re looking for someone who, from day one, will shape our culture change around future ways of working, bringing others along with them. You’ll have the ability to quickly understand the challenges and needs of others and build strong relationships to find a way forward.

You'll be a role model for the behavioural change we're looking to embed in the organisation - whether this is our new Ways of Working programme, approaches to becoming a more diverse and inclusive organisation or demonstrating our leadership behaviours.

You’ll work with a team of well-established and experienced HR and learning professionals, so we are looking for someone passionate about working alongside others in partnership.

You'll design and facilitate sessions and work to get people's attention to engage with our culture change programme so creativity and strong communication skills are a must!

Why apply?

This role offers the perfect opportunity if you’re looking to get your teeth around an OD and learning programme that has significant scope.

You’ll be given freedom to shape the way forward and really make your own mark, impacting thousands of people across the council and developing yourself as a senior Learning and Organisational Development professional.

You’ll learn lots about working in a complex organisation through working in partnership with a variety of different stakeholders – senior leaders through to front-line staff, our worker fora through to Trade Union Representatives.

Please read our Apply for a job at the council (brighton-hove.gov.uk) pages carefully. They give you all the guidance you need to complete your application as well as information on what will happen after you’ve submitted your application and at interview.

As part of your application, you will need to complete your education and work history and provide answers to some shortlisting questions.
