Location: Hybrid working (including countywide travel)
Starting Salary: £28,226 per annum

HR Officer - Employee Relations & Policy Team
Job Duties:
As a proactive and solution-focussed HR Officer, you will provide service managers across the organisation, with support and advice on a wide range of employee relations matters, in line with policy and employment law, to achieve optimum outcomes. You will work closely with them, contributing to the development of a partnership approach, whilst working with recognised trade unions to promote good employee relations.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Experience in providing clear advice on HR employee relations matters including ill health; disciplinary; performance capability; grievance; organisational change and TUPE
- Strong employment law knowledge (including equalities legislation)
- Ability to identify risk and manage it proportionately
- Experience of coaching and training to managers, at all levels, on policy and best practice
- Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
- Ability to understand customer needs by building good working relationships, credibility and enable business focussed solutions
- Good eye for detail and ability to prioritise workload
- CIPD Qualification or working towards this qualification or equivalent experience
HR Officer – Business Partner Team (Children’s Services)
Job Role:
You will partner with senior managers within Children’s Services to drive key actions. This is an exciting time to join as you will support the delivery of a transformation programme and strategy for the delivery of care and support for our residents.
You will work with teams and departments to:
- Understand their HR needs and priorities
- Support the design of appropriate interventions
- Advise and support the services, ensuring compliance with policies and processes and seeking solutions
- Support and enable workforce change, taking a change management approach
Working with HR colleagues, you will ensure these services receive the HR support and challenge that is required and appropriate, whilst actively promoting and embedding the Diversity & Inclusion agenda.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Some knowledge of employment and equalities legislation and HR processes and procedures
- A passion for delivering excellent customer service within the public sector whilst applying best practice from other sectors and the ability to consider a variety of solutions to challenging queries
- An ability to be adaptive, proactive, and customer-focused
- The right attitude and behaviours including the ability to build credibility and connections with key stakeholders in the Services and HR,
- A can-do attitude, maintain confidentiality, be collaborative, and professionally influence the services to meet their objectives and deliver their vision.
