North Somerset Council’s Strategic Procurement Service has the remit to improve efficiency and deliver ongoing savings. The council spends around £170m per annum with external suppliers across a range of categories including social care, highways, construction, leisure and IT.


Reporting to the Procurement Manager you will provide procurement support at all stages of the procurement cycle including procurement planning, market analysis, spend data, tendering, evaluation and contract management support. You will also support the implementation of a new Procurement Strategy through improving and streamlining procurement procedures, as well as helping to develop policies in areas such as social value, local suppliers and voluntary sector commissioning. You will also work closely with procurement teams in neighbouring authorities to share best practice and exploit opportunities for collaboration.


Ideally applicants should be working towards MCIPS qualification or will have relevant experience in a similar public sector organisation, as well as being able to demonstrate strong analytical, communication and organisational skills.
