Apprenticeship Digital Engagement / Marketing - Tenancy Involvement

This is an exciting Level 3 apprenticeship opportunity in Digital Marketing within Housing, working as part of the Tenancy Involvement Team (Neighbourhoods and Communities Team) at Wokingham Borough Council (WBC). The Tenancy Involvement Team has a varied remit of responsibilities including, tenant involvement, Housing complaints and compliments, policy and performance, customer engagement and other housing projects including the planning of and engagement at Community Events.   


As a Digital Marketing Apprentice (level 3), you will be learning with our apprenticeship provider, LDN, whilst developing skills, on-the-job, to engage with tenants, residents and stakeholders through digital campaigns across a range of online and social media platforms. The Tenancy Involvement Team will support you with this development by providing you with opportunities with other relevant Wokingham Borough Council Areas such as the Marketing and Communications Team. You will spend 20% of your contracted hours studying towards your apprenticeship (this equates to one day a week) and attend online learning sessions with LDN once a month.


The LDN course content includes Marketing Principles, Google Analytics and Principles of Coding which are assessed through portfolio work and an End Point Assessment. The specific tasks that you would be expected to undertake include: 

  • To assist in the operational delivery of tenant involvement including supporting new innovative engagement and consultation methods with tenants, residents and stakeholders.
  • Working alongside the Tenant Volunteers to create dynamic written, graphic, and media content that encourages audience participation, and increases online engagement.
  • Monitoring, updating and advising on the social media platforms, posts and engagement analytics.
  • Advertising and engaging about upcoming community fun days and uploading footage to all social media platforms.
  • Advertising events, tenant involvement news and meetings on social media platforms to increase involvement.
  • Being Creative! Researching new ideas and presenting these to your manager. Implementing new ideas and graphics with the support of the team.  
  • Supporting the social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, and other relevant platforms including writing and scheduling organic social media posts to promote the organisations campaigns and activities.
  • Using timelines and scheduled content to create a consistent stream of new content for audience interaction while analysing, managing, and altering schedules where necessary to optimize visits.
  • Interpreting documents, reports, and data to change them into an online format which is engaging to the audience..
  • Advising, learning and supporting with the development of a website.
  • You will be expected to learn alongside your apprenticeship so will need to be dedicated and motivated, and be confident in asking questions to the team and line manager when you are unsure.


We are looking for an apprentice who will be able to use their own initiative and be creative when advising the team, when planning digital marketing campaigns and problem solving through to campaign implementation.

  • Be motivated and dedicated to achieving a level 3 Digital Marketing apprenticeship whilst receiving support from WBC, the tenancy involvement team and your line manager.
  • Good IT skills including office software such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be customer focused with a ‘can do’ attitude, flexible, trustworthy and dependable.
  • Be a professional and polite team player, able to build and maintain positive working relationships and partnerships internally and externally.
  • Positive when working as part of a team.
  • Ability to work individually and be self motivated.
  • Excellent Levels of IT literacy with a motivation to learn new skills and software.
  • Have experience of using social media in a personal or professional setting (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Youtube, TikTok etc.)
