About the Role:
Salary: £22,572 - £24,920.
Specialist Teaching Assistant Vision Support.
Required to work for Wirral Local Authority from September 1st 2022 or asap.
Full time permanent position.
You will work with teachers to support the learning, educational progress and inclusion of children and
young people with a visual impairment, with the aim of narrowing any attainment gap they have
with their fully sighted peers at home or on entry to school.
You will assist children and young people with a visual impairment so that they can access the
curriculum, participate in learning, experience a sense of achievement and develop independence in
learning and other aspects of school life.
About the candidate:
We require a Teaching Assistant to work with visually impaired children. We are looking for somebody with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, in order to prepare and deliver curriculum materials. You will have experience in delivering a range of strategies and skills to facilitate independence of pupils in schools.
You would be expected to travel independently to a variety of locations in the authority. The post will involve opportunities to work with children in all the key stages and settings. The use of technology is very important to the role and skills in this area must be demonstrably high.
