We are seeking highly motivated individuals with good communication skills, self- motivation, tenacity and an enquiring mind. They must have the ability to deal calmly and professionally with difficult situations and challenge those responsible for environmental offences.
As a Street Scene Enforcement Officer, you will carry out the initial investigation and enforcement of environmental offences, including littering, dog fouling and assist the Environmental Crime Officers with fly-tipping investigations and other environmental crime.
You will be required to carry out uniformed patrol, on foot and by vehicle, in urban and rural locations, across Gravesham. You will work independently and with other team members. The role involves issuing fixed penalty notices to offenders against identified offenders of littering, dog fouling and fly tipping offences.
You will be required to work over five days, including some weekend work and, when necessary, evenings. You may also be required to assist in tasks related to other areas of Gravesham Borough Council business.
As a Street Scene Enforcement Officer you will be at the forefront of ensuring that Gravesham is a place to be proud of.
Minimum of 4 GCSE’s, grade C or equivalent, one of which must be English.
Experience of working in a public facing enforcement role and handling difficult situations in a professional manner.
Experience of issuing Fixed Penalty Notices and initial investigation.
Experience of completing investigation/prosecution related paperwork including FPNs and witness statements.
A Full UK driving licence.
Experience of investigating environmental offences.
Previous experience with another local authority enforcement team or enforcement authority.
Experience of using a body worn camera.
Previous experience of presenting evidence at court.
