Hospitality Assistant

We are looking to recruit a full time Hospitality Assistant to work within our Hospitality Team in order to deliver meetings and events across our growing portfolio of venues. The post holder will work with the team to find new and innovative ways to promote and deliver our Hospitality offer across a number of buildings throughout the district with a focus upon Lancaster Town Hall and The Storey.

This job offers an exciting opportunity to develop event coordination skills and work with a variety of internal and external clients. Working closely with the facilities support team, we provide a service across Lancaster City Council venues whilst building upon opportunities within our commercial assets. The Storey as an arts centre offers the successful candidate the opportunity to work with our wider programming team to build a refreshing arts-focused offer for the district.

You would be liaising with local and national businesses to grow the reputation and offer available to clients. Our events range from exhibitions and conferences, to weddings and concerts. We always strive to deliver the best customer service; and attention to detail is incredibly important. Therefore, experience within the Hospitality industry would be beneficial and enthusiasm is essential. A desirable attribute for the successful candidate is a knowledge of sound and lighting equipment and the systems surrounding these types of set up.

The hours of work are 37 per week on a rota basis, which will include evenings and weekends.

The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced clearance with the Criminal Record Bureau.

Lancaster City Council has unanimously declared a climate emergency and will therefore work towards reducing carbon emissions to net-zero by 2030. As part of this role, you will be expected to participate and work towards reducing carbon emissions.

We are a Forces Friendly employer, and an Armed Forces Covenant committed organisation. We welcome applications from defence reserves and other members of our armed forces community.

Excellent benefits include: A Local Government Pension Scheme (the Council makes a 15.5% contribution). Discounted gym membership and discount on days out, activities and retail.
