Housing Register Assistant – Ref: HRA

37 hours permanent contract

Salary: £23,684.44 p.a.

Broxbourne Borough Council’s Housing Advice Service is looking for a highly professional and enthusiastic person to join this ambitious and innovative Housing Options Team. Ideally we are looking for someone with previous experience working in a Local Authority housing setting and knowledge of the relevant legislation.

You will be working with a dedicated team assessing applications for social housing and allocating available properties. The role is interesting and varied, and includes assessment of applications in accordance with the Council Housing Allocations Policy. You will need the ability to work collaboratively with other partner agencies using your own initiative.

You will be a highly motivated person with a genuine interest in helping people, and have experience working in a customer-facing role. Excellent verbal communication skills in fluent English are essential, as this role requires having sensitive conversations and managing customer expectations effectively. Good written and analytical skills are equally important, therefore a GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Math’s is fundamental. A full driving license is also required as visits to clients in the community will be part of the role.

The Borough of Broxbourne is in south east Hertfordshire, just north of London and the M25, with a population of 99,000. It is an attractive place to live and work, and is just 25 minutes from Liverpool Street and Stratford International stations by train. There is also good access to airports and the rest of the UK.

For discussion prior to application, please contact jodie.gable@broxbourne.gov.uk.

We are committed to safer recruitment, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

The benefits package includes generous leave entitlement, a full training and development programme, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and free membership to the Council’s local leisure centres, which includes free access to gyms, swimming pools, fitness classes, racket sport sessions, a health suite and a range of generous discounts across other childcare, leisure and culture services.

Broxbourne Council is an Equal Opportunities employer.
