External Funding Officer

Located on the North Kent Coast, Swale is a diverse Borough with opportunities and ambitions that reflect this.  We are looking for an experienced officer, with energy and enthusiasm, to join our reshaped team, to help secure external funding and support delivery of the Council’s regeneration priorities.  The role will be varied, with a particular focus on economic development, including the skills agenda; the development of our visitor economy; town centres and other place-based regeneration projects.

You will be responsible for identifying external investment opportunities, developing projects and budgets, and preparing and submitting bids / business cases. You will also prepare investment and commissioning plans to respond to central government funding opportunities, support delivery and lead on monitoring and reporting.  There will also be the opportunity to work alongside colleagues across the wider work programme of the Regeneration, Economic Development and Property team.

Educated to degree level in a relevant subject, you should have experience and an active interest in regeneration, alongside experience of preparing bids, robust delivery plans and managing budgets.

We are small, busy team with a wide portfolio of work, so the ability to work independently and to deadlines is essential.   Excellent communication skills are also key, with a need to communicate and engage with a variety of audiences clearly and concisely.

Swale Borough Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all employee and volunteers to share this commitment.
