Job Duties:

Hertfordshire County Council Services for Young People (HCC SfYP) enables young people to succeed through targeted prevention and early intervention to address emerging needs, improve life chances and reduce escalation to more expensive and intensive services.  It supports young people who are challenged in education, their communities or home life to ensure a successful transition to adulthood.

Hertfordshire County Council Services for Young People (HCC SfYP) are looking for a self-motivated and enthusiastic Youth Worker to plan, deliver and evaluate curriculum-based youth work programmes which result in clear learning outcomes.   

Potential candidates will need a Youth Work qualification and experience of working with young people, colleagues and other stakeholders in a variety of settings.  You will need to be flexible in your working hours and be able to deliver daytime, evenings and residential opportunities during school holidays and at weekends.

The post holder will work with local teams to establish and deliver targeted prevention and early intervention youth work projects and programmes. You need the skills to mentor, and performance manage staff to improve practice and promote opportunities for evidencing young people progression. Good written and verbal communication skills are essential as you will be expected to liaise with young people, parents, colleagues and partners.  

You will have a track record of planning; delivering and evaluating successful youth work curriculum programmes based on young people’s needs.  You will be required to record data on relevant management information systems and produce correspondence as required, using appropriate ICT packages. This will include the collection, compilation and analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data for the purpose of evidencing outcomes to external funders.
