This new role within our team will look to provide professional support within the Construction and Maintenance team and its property stock. It will look to shape future standards of practise and reform within the Council.

You will be supported to carry out the following duties, responsibilities and training…

Your key priority will be to provide professional assistance to our property portfolio and support on any reactive or planned mechanical and electrical projects, whilst supporting the wider team with any reactive queries. The team consists of surveyors, project managers, energy managers, admin staff and the councils in house facilities team.

You will prepare briefs, design schemes, prepare specifications and run projects from an in-house team or with external Consultants. Projects will range from the refurbishment and maintenance of the councils maintained schools and corporate planned works with various other one-off capital schemes as applicable.

The role will ensure the compliance of the council's portfolio of properties and along with the wider team, ensure that our estate remains compliant and in a good condition.

What we're looking for…

We are seeking to appoint an organised, flexible and competent Building Services Engineer who has proven skills and experience within mechanical & electrical engineering profession.

The successful candidate will be required to be an experienced Building Services Engineer with a hands-on approach and be active in assisting with the delivery of Capital Projects, Planned Maintenance (for both Corporate and Schools) and the day-to-day Reactive Maintenance including service contracts.

The successful candidate will have experience in managing and overseeing building engineering works. This role will require a team player, one who can work with supervision and to tight deadlines.

The role requires excellent communication skills both written and verbally, as you will be expected to liaise regularly with other senior managers, consultants, and the public, as required.
