Resident Engagement Officer

The role will require a passion to make a difference and have strategic responsibility for developing and leading on community engagement and social inclusion initiatives to allow the building of strong and sustainable neighbourhoods. 

Develop programmes and projects to develop community cohesion, promote social equality and reduce social isolation for Medway Council tenants.

You will be required to create, develop, support and deliver engagement projects to residents in the community. Provide focus on implementation and menu of options for resident engagement, Implement and monitor the impact of resident engagement activities

Maintain an up-to-date understanding of resident engagement issues and an understanding on how to deliver services across all tenures.

Engage with, guide and support residents; ensure services reflect residents’ needs and resident involvement through regular reporting to other teams.

Co-create partnerships with tenants and service providers and others to maximise benefits for communities

Work closely with residents, external stakeholders and other departments within Housing Services to deliver the corporate plan and operational targets.

Have a good knowledge of legislative requirements such as The Charter for Social Housing residents: Social Housing White Paper

Ensure there are various methods of community engagement and consultation available in particular to ensure engagement from underrepresented groups such as youth, BME communities and disabled.

Ensure compliance with all aspects of the national agenda for resident and community engagement and have an awareness of the general compliance requirements as a social landlord.

Identify and bid for external funding for initiatives that support community cohesion and engagement.

Ensure effective partnership working to ensure residents have access to other council services, partner organisations and local agencies. Budget management skills required for planning and managing community events.
