Income Maximisation Advisor – Full time, 1 year Fixed term

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Welfare Rights Team and applicants are invited for this new challenging role in a very busy team. Working within the Welfare Rights Team based in Magdalen House, Communities (currently working remotely) to provide budgeting and money management advice, income maximisation through the Welfare System and incorporates the prevention of homelessness and supports affordability.

You will undertake a range of duties and responsibilities providing an effective customer focused service through strong partnership working and delivering a range of pro-active solutions direct to the customer. This will include developing and implementing a financial inclusion strategy, working with partners and other agencies to maximise customer income and provide tenancy sustainment by enabling customers to manage their rent accounts and avoid eviction, alongside the prevention of wider personal debts and income maximisation.

In this role you will often be the first point of contact that people experiencing financial hardship will speak to about their issues.  You will be required to understand the problems that can lead to financial hardship, and the steps that need to be taken to provide support via income maximisation, and inclusion.

The role is very much “customer focused, front line welfare advisor” and as such you must have excellent communication skills and be able to listen to and interpret information relayed to you in order to give accurate advice and assistance in a fast-paced environment.

Knowledge of Social Security Legislation, Welfare Support is essential and experience of helping people with issues surrounding homelessness would be an advantage.

You will be well supported by a Team Leader and other team members as well as colleagues from other departments.
