Schools Funding Officer

We have a rare and exciting opportunity for a successful candidate to join our highly-regarded Finance team in the crutial role of school funding.

Working closely with headteachers and Business Managers, you will be central to understanding and delivering the financial solutions that will work best for our schools.

The Accountancy Team is a friendy and busy team, with a good reputation for delivery.

As well as having a high degree of autonomy in your day to day work, you will be supported by a Business Partner and also experience working collaboratively within a team of experienced professionals who will provide the expert support you need to develop and thrive in this role.

You will be supported to carry out the following duties, responsibilities and training…

  • To develop, maintain, and implement an appropriate funding formula for the allocation of annual budgets to schools, incorporating national and local requirements
  • Responsible for completion of annual and other data returns required by the Department for Education and the Council, including the full data set associated with the calculation of school budgets via the national Authority Pro-Forma Tool (APT)
  • Provide a range of school funding tasks including in-year updates to school budgets and key supporting information required for School Funding decision making
  • Develop close contacts with school Business Managers, providing expert advice, support, and guidance on School Funding
  • Investigate and answer financial queries from schools, using appropriate financial systems and maintain manual and computerised records.

What we're looking for…

The successful candidate will have strong analytical skills to aid decision making with good ICT skills, in particular in the use of spreadsheets and posessing a high level of attention to detail. An ability to build relationships with schools focusing on end user requirements are also key qualities.

There is autonomy in the role which will require self-motivation and flexibility with the ability to work on your own initiative, knowing that support and guidance is available when required.
