We have an exceptional opportunity for a surveyor to manage the most varied building control service in Sussex. There will be opportunities for you to modernise and shape the future of the team through a Business Plan for the Service.

About the role

A qualified building control professional looking to lead and develop a key service, you will be at the forefront in helping Brighton & Hove to become carbon neutral. You will deliver environmentally sustainable and accessible new developments and certify some of the tallest buildings being planned to be built in the South East

You will be reporting to the Head of Planning and work with a positive and supportive management team. As well as shaping the future of the Building Control team you will also be at the forefront of implemented upcoming legislative changes, including Building Safety Act and Future Homes Standards.

About you

  • You will have a recognised degree or professional qualification in building control or equivalent with evidence of accreditation and have full membership of a relevant
  • Extensive experience of working in Building Control.
  • Ability to communicate with a diverse community.
  • Experience of successful management of a team of staff to deliver high quality services.
  • Experience of successful management of complex building projects with good progress towards Level 6 Accreditation.
  • Ability to lead a team and deliver change.
