Experienced Social Worker

Children Looked After, Children Looked After, 0-14 years.

Here in Knowsley, we are passionate about engaging with children and families to make a positive impact - to do this we know that you need supportive managers with manageable caseloads.

Our average caseload is 16 and we are looking for Social Workers to join our Children Looked After team. We have a permanent management team who are committed to reflective supervision that ensures you are able to think about creative ways to engage with children and their families, effective care planning and have a positive impact on children's lives.

Our progression policy is reflective of development not just into management but into new ways of intervening with families such as AIM assessments training, along with AMPH qualifications and Practice Educator Awards

Our new restructure has led to the development of a stable and experienced Senior Leadership Team that are visible and supportive. The successful applicants will be able to demonstrate their experience and abilities in respect of working in partnership with children, young people, families and partner agencies.

They will need to evidence experience of working with vulnerable children and their families, and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form. They would need to be able to work individually and as part of a team.

In Knowsley we use the Signs of Safety model across all levels of services. Don’t worry if you have not used Signs of Safety before because as an employee of Knowsley Social Work Academy you will have access to extensive training that will strengthen your practice and assist career development.

As well as group supervision with colleagues and monthly supervision with your manager you will have regular My Time; a council wide initiative to supervision and career development.

Being a small borough has the significant advantage that all services are centrally located, and workers have good working relationships with partner agencies

The Directors work closely with the Heads of Service, Service Managers and Team Managers to ensure caseloads are manageable and staff are well supported.

As an employee of Knowsley, you will be provided with the technology you need to enable you to do your job well; a smart phone, hybrid laptop and the ability to log-on whilst in the community ensure that you and your team are able to make the best use of your time and take advantage of the flexible working scheme. You will also be given a personal safety alarm that is linked to Knowsley' s Security Hub to ensure you are safe when out and about.
