Area Regeneration Project Manager PO4 - PO6

Area Regeneration Project Managers

There has never been a more exciting and challenging time to work for Waltham Forest Council and with its diverse community and partners to make an impact on the future of the borough.

Waltham Forest Council is at the forefront of regeneration in London, with an ambitious programme of housing, workspace, health, education, culture, leisure and transport infrastructure and public realm improvements being delivered across the borough. The Covid 19 pandemic and its impact has made us all review the ways we live and work, embracing technology and becoming more flexible, diverse and sustainable.

In response to the pandemic, the Council’s Public Service Corporate Strategy focuses on these immediate priorities:

  • Our 15-minute neighbourhood
  • Connecting people with jobs
  • Safe and healthy lives
  • Confidence in our future

The Area Regeneration Team

The work of our team focuses on our industrial areas and high streets/town centres, building on and enhancing their physical, social and economic assets and the skills and knowledge of local people. The team will be at the forefront in delivering on the 15 minute neighbourhood priority of the Council’s Corporate Strategy, whilst also linking this to supporting the Council’s response to the Climate Emergency.

Success in these roles will depend on collaborative working across the Council and with its partners to add value and deliver projects and initiatives as part of wider area frameworks and strategies, which make our borough a better place to live, work and play.

In response to the Covid-19 crisis, the Council is implementing its Economic Recovery Plan including specific action plans to support the recovery and resilience of our High Streets and secure economic recovery and deliver long-term transformative plans for our places and people.

Working with residents, businesses and stakeholders we are demonstrating that Waltham Forest is open for business. We are taking the opportunity to re-imagine the role and function of our places to ensure that they attract investment, deliver high-quality housing, employment and infrastructure and are fit to meet the needs of our residents and businesses.

Area Regeneration Project Managers

We are looking for excellent and experienced Project Managers who will take a flexible approach to develop, manage and implement a range of regeneration projects in growth areas and town centres, working closely with Deputy Heads of Area Regeneration, Directorate's Senior Team and Portfolio Lead Members.

Your role will be to take the lead on complex physical, cultural and creative place-making regeneration projects, delivering good growth with significant benefits to residents and businesses. You will have technical skills, qualifications and experience that demonstrate you can develop area-based strategies and plans; project manage physical project delivery, including public and stakeholder engagement; secure external funding; manage project budgets; run efficient procurement processes and directly client or work collaboratively with architect/urban design and contractor teams to deliver in line with objectives, on time and to budget.

We also want to see that you can think strategically, are able to innovate, problem-solve, adapt and bring creativity and equality, inclusivity and diversity priorities into project delivery. These are all important skills as you will need to collaborate and communicate with colleagues from across the organisation, including Senior Officers and Elected Members, as well as a range of external stakeholders.

The attached Role Profile gives an outline of what the roles will need to deliver.

We look forward to receiving your application.
