HGV Vehicle Mechanic
Salary: Starting from £30,984 to £35,336 p.a.
There may also be an opportunity for overtime which will be paid at time and a half.
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday 7.30am - 4.00pm

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a HGV Vehicle Mechanic to join our busy Vehicle Workshop based at Commerce Way in Lancing. You will be joining a highly skilled team who are responsible for maintaining and supporting the Council’s fleet of vehicles for Waste, Recycling, Cleansing and Parks Services.
While the main focus will be on HGV vehicles you will also be supporting other services with a wide range of fleet, including diesel alternatives as the Council works towards reducing its carbon emissions.
For this role you will have to learn and problem solve quickly and we are particularly looking for someone who:
- Is able to service and repair the council's mixed fleet of LGV and HGV vehicles
- Is self motivated, shows initiative to learn and takes ownership of their workload
- Is able to identify pragmatic solutions to problems and challenges that may arise whilst also recognising at which point they need to seek assistance
- Has, as a minimum, basic IT and administrative skills
- Shows attention to detail
- Has excellent interpersonal skills and is a team player
You must be qualified to City & Guilds or NVQ standard in vehicle repairs and maintenance.
A qualification in class 4 & 7 MOT testing and some taxi inspections is desirable but not essential as full training will be given to the successful candidate
HGV licence desirable.
