Early Help Worker - IDVA (Independent Domestic Violence Advisor)

Hours: 36 - Fixed term until 31 March 2025

This is a readvertisement, previous applicants need not apply.

We have an exciting opportunity for a new health focused Early Help Worker IDVA to join Sefton’s IDVA service which offers crisis support to victims of domestic abuse. The post holder will be employed by Sefton Council but will work predominantly at Southport and Ormskirk Hospital to provide specialist domestic abuse advice, guidance and support to professionals and service users.  We are looking for someone with experience of working face to face with families and/or vulnerable adults and who has a good knowledge of domestic abuse.  The successful candidate will either have an IDVA related qualification or be prepared to work towards this as part of their role. Excellent communication skills are essential to the role which will require regular contact with service users, colleagues, hospital staff and other health professionals, and a range of external agencies.

This is a fixed term post which will be externally funded by the Ministry of Justice.

These posts are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore you are required to declare any convictions, cautions, reprimands and final warnings that are not ‘protected’ (i.e. filtered out) as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2013.
