Team Manager - Enforcement

Making A Difference as a Team Manager - Enforcement within the Planning & Regeneration Service.  

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly-motivated individual with proven planning experience to join our progressive Planning service.

We’ve got a great opportunity for someone to play a key role in our Planning Enforcement team. Working in a Borough that faces a diverse range of Planning challenges you will be responsible for leading the Council’s duties in respect of all planning enforcement matters whilst managing our team of Enforcement Officers.

With specific and recent experience of enforcement and investigation procedures, you will be responsible for leading the implementation of Planning Enforcement processes and procedures within the Borough, being responsible for leading on the most complex and controversial enforcement cases across the whole borough.

With at least 5 years previous experience of dealing with complex and sensitive compliance and enforcement issues, you will be responsible for responding to enforcement complaints and breaches of planning control; assessing them against policy and other material planning considerations to formulate recommendations. You will advise senior officers and be expected to work closely with Councillors and the community on planning enforcement issues within their areas.

As an experienced officer who can hit the ground running, you will be adept at giving evidence in Court and/or Public Inquiries, and you will need to have strong negotiation skills with the ability to negotiate on all forms of development proposals.

You will also be a strong team player, with good inter-personal and communication skills including experience of dealing with the public and difficult customers. You should be self-motivated and have a flexible attitude towards work as some visits may be required outside of normal office hours. A driving licence with use of your own car is essential.
