The Child Protection School Liaison Officers (CPSLO) are the key interface between Hertfordshire schools (including independent, academies, free and colleges) and frontline teams within Children’s Services to ensure effective safeguarding of children from harm, abuse and neglect.

They have an instrumental role in the ongoing improvement and development of safeguarding practice within Hertfordshire educational establishments through providing advice, support and training school and education staff on child protection matters in a designated area of the county and, to contribute to multi-agency child protection work, from an educational perspective.

This includes the creation and delivery of child protection training, child protection consultations, creation of model child protection policies and annual safeguarding reports to school Governing Bodies, supervision for school staff and audits of school safeguarding records.
