Workforce Strategy Lead - Adult Social Care

The starting salary for this role is £36,282 per annum based on a 36 hour working week.

This is a fixed term contract or secondment opportunity until 31st October 2023.

Our team manages a range of business, staffing and recruitment activities across the Adult Social Care Directorate for, and on behalf of, our front-line managers. This allows those managers to focus on making a difference to the residents of Surrey. As a result of increased activity, we are recruiting to meet the demands of the service. With this in mind, we have an opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join us on our journey.

We want people who are self-motivated and committed to working in collaboration with others, from junior colleagues and peers to senior leaders in the council and our external partners. You’ll put our service users at the heart of what you do. You’ll have exceptionally high standards but, more than that, you’ll be someone who wants to find more efficient and effective ways of working that make a real difference to how we deliver our services.

You’ll be working in a team with likeminded professionals that will provide support and guidance, but we’ll also give you the freedom to be creative and use your own initiative. In this post you will work across the Workforce Strategy team and provide support to at least one service area and lead on some of our workforce strategies.

In this role you will:

  • Lead on creative and innovative recruitment campaigns for hard to fill roles within social care
  • Deliver a range of recruitment and workforce projects
  • Provide tactical and operational leadership and management for our team
  • Lead on a range of proactive and outreach recruitment initiatives
  • Work in partnership with stakeholders from across the council to deliver a top-class recruitment service, including an excellent candidate experience.

We will provide a thorough induction which will equip you with the tools to build your knowledge around Adult Social Care.

We are looking for someone who enjoys the challenge of recruitment and understands the current labour market. You will bring new ideas that will help modernise the way we recruit, ensuring we are able to attract the diverse talent we require to ensure we provide an excellent service to our residents. It is important that you can think strategically and tactically to ensure the workforce is in place to meet the needs of the residents of Surrey. We are passionate about the social care world, so it is important to us that you share that enthusiasm.

You will have a drive to succeed and be as determined to overcome challenges as we are. You will have professional confidence to challenge the status-quo, be able to develop strategic plans and, importantly, translate this directly into day-to-day tangible improvements. We love ideas and creative thinking that deliver better outcomes for the service.

This role is demanding, and you will be busy, but we recognise that a healthy work / life balance is important to ensuring effective performance. What is on offer?

A fixed term contract (or secondment for internal staff) until 31st October 2023. The role is based in Guildford however both agile and flexible working is actively encouraged. A fair amount of the work you will undertake will be able to be completed either remotely or from an office of your choice, however as the role is customer facing and will require working with a range of internal and external partners, you will be expected to attend face to face meetings/events as required (sometimes at short notice).
