About the Role:
Central Bedfordshire Council is currently evolving its day offer to individuals with learning disabilities. We have exciting opportunities for those who wish to be part of the team that implements this vision.

At the Townsend Centre it is important every customer feels included and respected. By supporting the customers, we work with, to learn new skills and through engaging in a range of opportunities both at the centres and in the wider community we strive to meet the ethos of making Central Bedfordshire a great place to live for all.

As a Day Care Officer, you will work closely with the customers jointly in the preparation, implementation and delivery of sessions that continue to develop each customer in a positive way, through expanding their knowledge and skills. By supporting every customer to find their greatness, you can find yours too and contribute to our overall aim of ‘creating opportunities for our customers to grow’.

You will be responsible for Session Planning and keeping Support Plans and Risk Assessments up to date for each customer in your key group. You will also on occasions, work closely with other agencies (such as Health Professionals and Social Workers) as well as customer’s families. At times you will be required to support some customers with their personal care requirements.

Who are we looking for?
We are looking to speak to highly motivated, enthusiastic, energetic reliable, adaptable and flexible people with excellent communications skills and a passion for working with individuals with learning disabilities. Some experience of this type of work would be great alongside the ability to deliver a range of sessions. Ideally you will need to be IT literate, able to write reports, use your initiative and think on your feet and have a full driving licence. Experience or an active interest in cooking or catering is desirable.
