Employee Services Officer

The starting salary for this position is £23,243 per annum based on a 36 hour working week. This role is offered as a 6 month fixed-term contract or secondment opportunity.

This role is open to remote working meaning you aren't required in the office 5 days a week. We’re less about you driving to work and more about us collectively driving down our carbon footprint. We care about how you work rather than where you work; the people rather than the postcode. In support of our people and our greener futures strategies, we’d welcome a conversation with the successful candidate on what remote working may look like for you.

Come and shape your career in Employee Services with Surrey County Council. We have an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic team!

About The Employee Services Team

The Employee Services team is currently made up of 12 staff and we run the payroll function for corporate Payroll across Surrey County Council.

In the role of Employee Services Officer, you will use your close attention to detail to perform accurate and timely employee administration and transaction processes. This will include creating, maintaining and processing documentation, records and data to agreed standards.

You will also contribute to, and recommend, changes and improvements to develop the level of service provided by the team to the services.

Our overriding standard is one of excellent customer service. An important aspect of this role will be to receive and resolve queries from Surrey employees/managers or schools and other external customers, whilst working with close support from your Hub Leader or senior member of the team. This is a faced-paced role, with a high volume of transactions so we’re looking for someone who thrives in a busy environment.

This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain further knowledge and experience of a broad range of work areas, as well as an insight into how different teams work.

If you have enthusiasm, a positive outlook and are willing to learn, then Employee Services is the team for you!

To be shortlisted for interview for this position, your CV and personal statement should clearly evidence the following:

  • Good IT skills
  • An understanding of what excellent customer service looks like
  • Good communication skills
  • Basic administrative skills

At Surrey, our values and behaviours are just as important as our skills and abilities. They shape who we are as an organisation. Find out more about the values we follow.
