The successful candidate

We are looking for an enthusiastic Senior IT Officer with a background in Data Analysis and Systems support to work as part of the Business Applications and Data team. The role holder will provide support for the Commissions existing Political Finance Online systems and play a significant role towards project related activities for the development of a new bespoke online system. The successful candidate will have experience of handling ambiguous data and lead on data cleansing, mapping, and migration related activities. Full training will be provided to the role holder.


The role

The post holder will work within the Business Applications and Data team and will be focussed on a major project to develop a new bespoke online system for the registration of political parties and campaigners, and the collation of financial data from them for publication. With the development of the new system the post holder will be leading on the data cleansing, mapping, and migration planning to support the transfer of data from the existing system to the new one.

The post holder will also facilitate the effective use of the Commission’s data and support its critical MS SQL database systems. Responsibilities will include data management, report and query production as well as providing support to the users of the Commission’s existing and new Political Finance Online systems. They will also provide expert support to Commission staff, using a variety of technologies including MS SQL Server, MS SharePoint, and Tableau.

The post holder will have day-to-day contact with Commission staff, regular liaison with suppliers and occasional contact with external stakeholders including officers of political parties.
