Team Manager – Cared for Children
There is no better time to join Sefton; we have a new Director in post and a permanent senior management team to support our ongoing improvement journey; alongside innovation, to include our new Social Work Academy which will support all our NQSWs and a 2-year partnership with Leeds Strengthening Families, Protecting Children Service to help us embed restorative practice approach across the partnership.
The role
We are looking for a Team Manager to join a great service which is supported by an experienced Service Manager and 2 experienced Team Managers. Ideally, you will have management experience or be ready to take the step up with support. It is essential that you have high aspirations for every child and young person we care for and that you are able to work in a strengths-based way to support your team to gain to their best work.
We want every young person to have the best opportunities in life and for them to be supported to achieve as much stability as possible. You must be a child centred manager; passionate about achieving best outcomes and have a solution focused approach to demand and supporting your team. It is important that you understand challenges cared for children experience; have experience of collaborating closely with partner agencies and appreciate the importance of family, friends and community to children and young people’s identity and wellbeing.
We are keen to appoint the best Team Managers as we know how important management stability, oversight and supervision is for our teams and our work with children, young people, families, and carers. What we require from you:
- Social Work Degree or equivalent Social Work Qualification
- Current registration with Social Work England
- A commitment to working transparently; in partnership with children, families, and partner agencies
- High aspirations for cared for children
- An understanding of Corporate Parenting principles
- Management experience is not essential but is desirable
- Supervisory/ mentoring experience
- Knowledge of childcare legislation, statutory guidance, and best practice research
- Knowledge of the Assessment Framework and ability to assess risk and need
- Analytical report writing skills and the capacity to support the development of others in this area
- Ability to make child centred, complex decisions, using evidence-based tools and analysis
- Ability to understand and demonstrate a commitment to equality and diversity
- Ability to work as a team alongside other managers to achieve best outcomes
- Commitment to your own personal development and professional growth
