Team:  Capital Construction Service (Assets)

Salary:  £36,554 - £39,707 per annum 

Job Family:  Enabling CBG11

Hours: 37 per week

Location:  Working from home and any CBC offices, including Priory House, Shefford. You will be expected to attend a CBC office location on a monthly basis, and as needed to carry out your role 

Contract:  Hybrid - Permanent

Closing Date:  30th November 2022

More about the role:

You will have at least 10 years in a construction role - Clerk of Works and other relevant professionals such as Site Managers, Building Control Inspectors, Building Warranty Inspectors etc are welcome. You will also hold a level 4/5 (HNC/HND) or equivalent qualifications, valid CSCS card, Driving Licence and membership (or be working towards) with a professional body like ICWCI, MCIOB, ICE. Knowledge of H&S Legislation, CDM 2015, construction technology and regulations are a must.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     

The successful Clerk of Works will be responsible for checking the contractor’s compliance with the contract drawings, specification, Building Regulations and Building Warranty standards and producing a report of your findings following each visit. You will carry out snagging inspections prior to Practical Completion and issue lists of identified defects

Taking pride in meeting client’s expectations and requirements is key to this role and with your technical knowledge and previous experience you will excel in this area.  You will be customer friendly, efficient and connected in how you work, while ensuring you maintain the best interest of the Council.  Mobile working is a key part of this role, and your IT skills will allow you to examine proposals and produce reports when away from the office environment.

 

You will ensure you’re always up to date with current best practice in building construction, legislation, Health and Safety, CDM, British Standards, Approved Codes of Practice to ensure that all workmanship and materials are of an appropriate level of quality.
