Support Officer (Brockhill & Hale End Court)

Would you like the opportunity to make a difference to people’s lives? Do you enjoy being part of a team that works hard to help our Borough’s tenants? Do you have a ‘can do’ attitude and happy to lend a hand with whatever task is needed?

Woking Borough Council is seeking Support Officers to support the tenants of our Extra Care Schemes in living independent and fulfilling lives whilst also caring for their health and wellbeing.

The post will involve being responsible for new activity ideas, events, fundraising and the planning of trips and social outings for tenants. The Support Officer will help tenants to receive the appropriate emotional and physical care and support and assist with all administrative duties, social media and sourcing volunteers to help at our schemes.

Experience of working with or supporting older or disabled people is essential to the role, as is the ability to show empathy and understanding to the needs of the tenants. You will be able to clearly and confidently communicate with a range of stakeholders including tenants, volunteers and next of kin. To be successful in this role you will be reliable, hardworking and a team player, potentially providing support at either scheme where required.

Candidates must have a clean driving license and own transport as travel between our two Extra Care Schemes will be necessary at times.

What we offer

The Council offers a generous flexi time scheme with the ability to take two flexi days a month, membership of the local government pension scheme, discounted health and leisure membership, plus many more excellent benefits.

This job involves contact with vulnerable adults. Successful applicants will be therefore required to obtain an Enhanced DBS Certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service. Assistance will be given by the Council and further details can be found in the job application pack.

The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for this post.  An assessment may be required. If you have any queries or would like to discuss this further, please contact the Human Resources team.
