About the role

This role involves working alongside the Head of Legal and Governance and another Head of Legal Services to manage and provide strategic lead for the Social Care, Contracts, Governance, Employment and Education division of the Haringey Legal Service. In this senior management role you will be involved in a number of high level projects including for our most vulnerable citizens. The role includes managing a small team of Principal Lawyers and oversight of a wider legal team and it also covers the position of joint Deputy Monitoring Officer.

About the team

Haringey Legal Services is a diverse and stimulating place to work. Our legal teams are committed to public service and are called upon to advise on a range of matters whether that is planning permission for the Tottenham Hotspur Football ground, approval for the Wireless Festival or supporting the work of those who provide invaluable support to communities.

We are seeking to recruit new talent to join our existing team of lawyers with roles ranging from trainee solicitor positions for those starting their legal career to those seeking progression to a management role.  We are a Lexcel accredited service offering a competitive salary package, flexible working patterns including hybrid working arrangements, excellent annual leave, supportive supervision and access to the Local Government Pension Scheme and Employee Support Scheme.

This is an exciting time to join a committed in-house legal team, which is delivering an efficient and high-quality legal service to enable the council to deliver its corporate priorities including its extensive regeneration programme. We are looking for confident, motivated people with strong communication and influencing skills to be part of our excellent and friendly legal team.

About you
