Are you interested in making a positive difference to families with children and young people who have a range of additional needs in North Somerset, as part of a friendly, experienced, dedicated, and caring team?

 

The Sitting Service would like to recruit 6 enthusiastic, friendly, and capable Community Care Workers to provide personalised specialist support for children and young people with additional needs, including physical and learning disabilities, ranging in age from 0 to 18, based around North Somerset. Support is generally provided in the family home.

 

Hours are flexible, with much of the work taking place in 4-hour slots in the evenings, weekends and school holidays.  Most support is on a one to one basis allowing you to use your initiative and creativity.  You will be required to aid in supporting the wishes of the child/young person to be part of their community and develop/maintain their life skills by helping them to enjoy themselves at home or going out to social events.

 

Possession of good communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to adapt these for working with young people and their families to ensure a clear, sensitive and trustworthy person-centred service is essential. Flexibility, patience and the awareness of the need for confidentiality, safeguarding, the ability to work in a team and take part in necessary training is important to this role.

 

This post is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitations of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
