Senior Community Engagement and Research Officer

We are looking for someone with experience of managing a range of community programmes and has worked closely with and supported community groups, the voluntary and not for profit sector to join our innovative and well established Leisure, Healthy Lifestyles and Communities team. This role is an exciting opportunity to help us grow and further develop our work with communities across Wyre, reduce health inequalities, keep people connected and working in partnership to make a difference in our communities.

Based at our offices in Poulton-le-Fylde, this role will is key in supporting the council’s community engagement ambitions and will help implement a range of projects. Experience of project management through delivery of community engagement and capacity building projects is therefore essential. You will need to be a good negotiator, being able to influence and build constructive relationships with a wide range of key stakeholders including members of the public, local organisations, colleagues and elected members. Experience of working successfully supporting groups or networks with grant applications, local issue solving, support with new group set up is also essential.

The role also involves conducting the design and delivery of primary research (both qualitative and quantitative, using a range of research methodologies (focus groups, surveys etc) to consult with the community on key council issues. Experience of working with consultation and engagement software systems is therefore another important, essential skillset, as well as knowing how to fully implement, manage, analyse, present and evaluate data and results.

We are looking for someone with a degree relating to community development or social studies subject area and /or with significant relevant experience. Someone with excellent IT skills and with a good knowledge of the voluntary and third sector, who is organised, works well in a team and is solution focused. Experience of managing collaborative projects, delivering customer focused services, producing reports and action plans and managing budgets is essential.

This post is fixed term until 31 March 2025.
