Theatre Business Officer

The role
This role is key to supporting the Venue Manager in delivering a commercially focussed venue and requires a skilled business officer with extensive experience of working in a similar role.
The role involves the management of systems and processes to deliver key functions of the business, from overseeing the box office system, ensuring all shows and events are on sale; promoting, co-ordinating and managing private hires to undertaking financial duties including creditor and debtor payments and assisting with financial monitoring.
Working closely with colleagues within key areas across the venue, this role will be central to ensuring The Woodville maximises its opportunity to increase business thereby reducing operating costs and the financial burden on the Council
Main responsibilities
Undertake a range of specialist tasks including:
To manage the box office service, including line management of 2 p/time staff, ensure all shows and events are correctly programmed and on sale and produce regular reports regarding levels of sales and support marketing colleagues to identify where efforts should be focussed
To seek opportunities to increase sales and reduce costs, such as through reviewing physical opening times of the box office, upselling and promoting additional shows
To actively promote the venue and its facilities to private hirers and seek opportunities for new business, thereby enhancing commercial opportunities
To raise contracts and other associated paperwork in relation to private hires, shows and events, and ensure all contras and riders are managed and applied.
To actively engage in budget monitoring meetings and assist with financial projections to ensure the overall service remains in budget
To feed into monthly budget monitoring and prepare budget projections for relevant lines of income and expenditure including sales for shows / events
To manage the theatres financial administration e.g. raising purchase orders and payments to creditors; ensuring daily income returns are completed and passed to finance; oversee receipting, secure keeping and security collections of cash
Essential qualifications/experience-
Level 4 Business & Administration Management, or equivalent qualification / extensive experience
Proven experience in a similar position
Strong admin and finance experience
Line management or supervisory experience
Demonstrated experience within a commercial environment where focus was placed on efficiency, profit & loss
Demonstrated experience within a customer service environment.
Experience in producing and interrogating reports
Experience setting and monitoring targets and performance
