Hours: 37 per week
Contract: Permanent

Diversity: We are an inclusive employer and value a diverse workforce

This is an exciting opportunity to join and lead the gypsy and traveller service. The County Council manages 11 sites for approximately 200 residents, and you will lead an experienced team with the opportunity to grow and develop the service.

Based in Hatfield, the role’s focus is on ensuring tenancy services are carried out effectively across the sites including allocations, rent and utility charges collection, day-to-day repairs, and a small refurbishment programme. Working closely with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, you will also be responsible for advising the County Council on wider matters relating to gypsy and travellers including unauthorised encampments, community relations, and liaison with gypsy and traveller communities.

If you relish being able to deal with a wide range of issues and want to progress some key projects as well as develop a service, this is an ideal opportunity for you. A varied work schedule and range of projects means you will have scope to develop your skills, your team’s and the service.

You should have some knowledge of working with gypsy and traveller communities or transferable experience. The ideal candidate will have a “hands on” approach but will be able to combine this with representing the County Council externally in a wide range of forums working closely with partners.

We are looking for someone who can inspire, lead and manage the team and ensure that staff are supported effectively to deliver services in line with the service plan. You will have significant experience of working with people from a wide range of backgrounds; with excellent people skills and ability to deal with a varied workload.

You will have the freedom the develop the service as well as leading a dedicated and experienced team.
