Tunbridge Wells Borough Council is looking for a CIPP qualified Payroll & Finance Manger to take responsibility for all aspects of the 650 headcount payroll for the Council, including elections, pensions, RTI submissions and audit support. This role will be particularly attractive to someone who is looking to broaden their knowledge and experience into Finance, as you will also manage the accounts payable, accounts receivable, insurance and parking permits functions for the Council. If you don’t already have a finance qualification, the council will support you to attain one of your choosing.
Your team of 6 is competent and a delight to work with. They have achieved a clean audit for the last 13 years and understand that their dedication to their gatekeeper role is vital to the wellbeing of the council. They are also motivated to make positive change and expect continuous improvement. You will need to have fresh ideas and be able to support them with theirs, as the council strongly promotes productivity and efficiency, especially around digital interactions with our customers.
You will also be part of the team that consolidates the statutory accounts and reports on all financial matters to the Board and Councillors. Your specific responsibility will be for Payroll, debt write offs and debtors and creditors reporting. You will also be responsible for some of the transparency information provided by the council, so attention to detail and adherence to deadlines will be vital.
