Trustee/Governor Role

Trustee/Governors Vacancies

The Skills for Life Trust has an exciting opportunity for experienced professionals looking to make a positive contribution to our MAT, currently consisting of 5 academies - 2 secondaries and 3 primaries.

Following the reset of our governance structure in September 2022, we are now looking to increase the membership in the Trust Board.  This voluntary role is ideally suited to professionals with experience of leadership and decision-making, with the drive to create a positive change for all young people.

No specific qualifications are required to become a Trustee, but there are certain expectations including attendance at six Trust Board meetings and a further six meetings of one of the Trust's Committees (either finance or education based).

We are seeking people who have enthusiasm, time and a real desire to make a difference to children lives within our communities, and are committed to the aims and objectives of the Skills for Life Vision and Mission.

“Preparing you for the future”

At the Skills for Life Trust our core vision is to prepare all our young people for their next steps in life. We understand that a quality education is not just focused on academic achievement but is also built around the foundations of developing softer skills that will support personal development, employability skills and self-care.

“To nurture and develop all people in our Trust so that they reach their full potential academically, vocationally and personally, including being positive role models for future generations in the community. We will achieve this by providing high quality values-based education that cultivates employability and life skills making our schools the first choice for young people, staff, parents, carers and employers.”

We are especially interested in recruiting Trustees with expertise in at least one of the following areas:

  • Secondary Education
  • Financial expertise (for example, Accountant, Auditor or those from a similar background
  • Previous Multi-Academy Trust Board experience
