Salary: Career Grade £24,496 rising to £30,516 upon successful completion of qualification, per annum pro rata

Contract: Fixed term - 36 Months
Hours:  37 hours per week
Base location: Working from home and any CBC offices, including Priory House, Shefford. You will be expected to attend a CBC office location on a monthly basis, and as needed to carry out your role

Do you have an inquisitive mind and enjoy understanding how things work?  Are you enthusiastic and quick to learn new things?  If you answered yes, then a career in Central Bedfordshire’s Internal Audit team may be for you.

 

The Council faces many strategic, financial and operational risks that can affect it achieving its goals. Internal Audit take a deep and objective look at the organisation and give independent assurance on whether it has sound processes in place to manage these key risks and whether they are operating effectively.  This could be your opportunity to find your greatness working at Central Bedfordshire Council.  

 

You’ll be working on a wide variety of projects, so it’s important that you’re adaptable and highly organised. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential as you’ll be communicating at all levels, often explaining complex information both in meetings and in written reports.  An interest in analysing data with good IT skills is desirable.

 

As a Trainee Auditor you’ll work towards a professional qualification (either internal audit or accountancy) by completing an apprenticeship programme, study options will be discussed during the recruitment process and training will commence at the next available start date for the professional qualification chosen.  After successful completion of the professional qualification there is an opportunity to apply for a Senior Auditor position when this becomes available.

 

The entry requirements for this position are either a degree or a level 4 finance qualification (e.g AAT) AND 24 months experience in a finance role in order to undertake the professional qualification.
