Social Worker

Adolescent Safeguarding Team

Permanent, full time (36 hrs)

Salary: £36,138 - 45,834

Grade SW Level 2/3

If you are a dynamic and passionate person committed to working with and supporting children, this is your chance to join us at Enfield Council. We offer a high quality and innovative service for children in Enfield. Our children and family services were judged as Good in all areas by OFSTED in March 2019 and we want you to join us on our journey to Outstanding.

OFSTED described Enfield Social Work teams as highly motivated with manageable caseloads, allowing time for workers to get to know children and protect them effectively. Managers and staff are passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people. We offer a clear Signs of Safety (SoS) framework to guide and support our work.

Enfield’s Adolescent Safeguarding Team has been created to work intensively with young people aged 10 to 17 years on the edge of care or at risk of exploitation.

Within communities we are becoming more aware of the issues regarding the impact of Contextual Safeguarding and Extra-Familiar harm and what this means for young people, such as grooming, gang culture and young people being exploited into Child Criminal Exploitation and Child Sexual Exploitation. As a profession, we are developing our understanding and responses to the risks posed to young people. We are seeking Social Workers who are have the passion, commitment, and ability to positively engage young people to improve their life outcomes and make effective change.

Evidence shows that young people entering care after the age of 10 years do not do as well as their peers who live with their own families, citing poorer outcomes experienced by LAC in relation to criminality, school exclusions and emotional and behavioural health issues. The Adolescent Safeguarding Team will provide robust, innovative and ambitious interventions for families of young people assessed as being on the edge of care in order to enable the family to continue to support children within the family network whilst improving outcomes for vulnerable young people.

Successful candidates will display knowledge of Contextual Safeguarding and a high level of determination to ensure young people are able to remain living within their family networks in order to achieve positive outcomes. Professionals in the team will require a high level of resilience and perseverance in the face of resistance and challenge.

• Experienced Social Workers - £38,607 to £45,834
