We’re looking to recruit a full time Housing Options Manager to lead the Housing Options Team which includes the management of the housing register, homelessness, homeless prevention, and temporary accommodation. The individual should have substantial knowledge in housing and homelessness, delivering services for vulnerable people and experience in working to deadlines and effectively managing partnerships.
The post will ensure the Council fully delivers its statutory duties to households that are homeless or seeking assistance with housing, meeting Government targets and standards.
Ensure the effective and efficient delivery of the Council’s statutory duties in relation to allocations, homelessness and the provision and management of temporary accommodation.
Ensure that all members in the team are recruited, trained, managed and appraised and developed in accordance with the Council’s relevant policies and procedures.
Meet regularly with team members to ensure that agreed policies, practices and procedures are being implemented and performance standards are being met through the setting and monitoring of individual and team performance targets.
Ensure continued personal development of the team members, identifying any training and development needs, including updating the team on changes to legislative or Government guidelines affecting their work.
Contribute to the preparation of the service plan and provide quality data on all aspects of the homelessness, rough sleeping and prevention service to inform performance.
Develop and manage new projects and initiatives targeted at increasing homelessness prevention, early intervention and reducing the usage and cost of temporary accommodation provision.
Respond to telephone calls and correspondence within the Council`s specified target timescales, including MP and councillor enquiries, complaints and FOIs.
Ensure substantial enquiries are made, high quality personal housing plans are completed, and meaningful advice is provided under the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
Carry out S202 reviews under The Housing Act 1996 to ensure we have provided lawful fair decisions based on facts and taken account of case law and the code of guidance.
We are seeking an experienced housing professional with a minimum of five years’ experience of working in housing options and homelessness.
You must have proven ability to effectively lead a team and provide a positive attitude and understanding of processes and be highly effective in partnership working.
You will have highly developed written and verbal communication skills; able to produce reports and recommendations for senior management and elected members.
You will be able to manage conflicting priorities and have a proven ability to meet deadlines, and work well under pressure.
You must also have a commitment to service delivery and a passion for continuous improvement and excellent customer service.
