Havering is a high achieving and ambitious London Borough, we are seeking to appoint a replacement Schools ICT Technician (within the Educational Computer Centre team). ECC operates as a “Traded Service” within Havering Education Services and is highly regarded by schools, It enjoys a strong reputation in and out of the borough providing ICT Support

Computing and Education Technology has been a strength of the team for many years and the team members have been involved in many exciting projects with schools including LGfL services rollout, installations, server/network infrastructure commissioning and most currently Wi-Fi upgrades and VOIP changeovers

This recruitment will allow the successful candidate to be involved with emerging technologies and trends as education look to expand or renew their IT estate

About the Job

As a schools technician, you will be responsible for providing regular “Onsite” visits and “Remote” ICT support delivering the ECC Service Level Agreement to primary schools in Havering (and possibly out of borough)

You will need excellent knowledge and understanding of ICT hardware that is in use in classrooms including interactive screens, visualizers, projectors and AV equipment and the use of equipment to deliver the curriculum across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2

A repair service is offered to the schools which may require hardware to be returned to our workshop at the Town Hall for assessment and repair where needed as you will be required to travel between sites within Havering (and possibly out of borough), own transport is preferred and travel expenses will be paid

About You

The successful candidate must be able to show they have the ability to operate within a dynamic team and also operate independently when required, Have excellent troubleshooting skills, backed by a clear, analytical approach to problem solving, Have the ability to self-manage, organise, and prioritise tasks and work under pressure during troubleshooting and problem-solving, Be professionally presented, flexible and adaptable, and be able to handle the various pressures and demands associated with working in a highly customer focussed ICT support role

Have significant, recent experience in a similar client facing, IT Service and Support role within primary schools, be able to administer user login accounts, distribution and security groups, ensuring that staff, students and teachers have access to the data and resources they need

A knowledge of RM CC4 is desirable

The successful candidate must be able to image, deploy and maintain Windows 10/11 PCs, Laptops, Tablets, Apple Macs, iPads and other peripheral equipment such as scanners, printers, interactive whiteboards and projectors, ensuring that this hardware is regularly tested and ready for use when required

The successful candidate must be able to install and test new software and software updates / upgrades, ensuring compliance with software licensing regulations at all times, operate helpdesk software and record accurately all information to deliver excellent customer service

You will also be required to have knowledge of IP schema’s, network switches, patching and basic cable fault finding.
