Health Improvement Co-Ordinator

Medway Public Health are recruiting a full-time Health Improvement Coordinator to deliver and NHS Health Checks and Smoking Cessation support. The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator and passionate not only about improving the health of Medway residents but about providing positive client experience.

By delivering our smoking cessation programme the Postholder will support the government’s ambition of reducing smoking prevalence to 5% or less by 2030. The ideal candidate will be a good listener and enjoy working with people to help them make positive lifestyle changes. The ability to engage service users including those who may have complex health and social factors impacting their lives, as well as influencing smokers who may be ambivalent or resistant to change, are crucial attributes for the successful candidate.

The NHS Health Check programme aims to prevent cardiovascular disease, and associated conditions, through the early assessment, awareness and management of individual risk factors. The Postholder will perform the Health Check, communicate the results and support the client to identify lifestyle changes that can improve their health.

The Postholder will work collaboratively with colleagues within the Council, NHS, a broad range of partnership organisations and the public to promote health improvement and work towards reducing health disparities.

The services are delivered at the Smokefree Advice Centre in Chatham, community venues and workplaces across Medway. The role requires regular evening (up to 8pm) and weekend work in line with service needs, occasionally at short notice in order to cover absence.  A driving licence and access to your own car is essential.
