Senior Accountant (Treasury & Transactions)
£38,276– £53,997 depending on experience
If you are an experienced, enthusiastic and self-motivated individual seeking a new challenge then this is the opportunity for you. Following a restructure, this new post will draw on all your technical and managerial experience to help lead the Financial Services team through a period of change as we strive to modernise our processes, whilst maintaining our excellent levels of service.
Reporting to the Corporate Head of Finance, this role will see you provide a full range of costing, budgeting and accounting services to the Council and its associated companies. Focusing on delivering the Council’s treasury, banking and income collection functions, you will also be overseeing the accounts payable, accounts receivable, insurance and income functions so previous management experience and knowledge of these areas will be key.
Highly numerate, you will need to work accurately and methodically and ensure that all aspects of your work meet statutory requirements and professional codes of conduct, particularly those in respect of producing the annual and quarterly treasury management reports and the year end statutory accounts in which you will take a leading role.
As an effective communicator with the ability to remain calm under pressure, the scope of the role means you should be able to organise and prioritise workloads and have a flexible approach to your duties to enable you to meet the various deadlines required. Your strong technical skills will give you the self-confidence to enable you to manage the competing demands of the role whilst driving forward changes and improvements to the service.
As a minimum, candidates will hold affiliate membership with a recognised CCAB body, with a commitment to undertake continuous professional development in order to maintain and enhance this specialist knowledge to the benefit of the Council and the postholder.
We are creating an environment where people can balance successful careers with their commitments and interests outside of work. To this end the Council operates a hybrid home/office working policy and candidates will only be asked to work 3 days a week in the office. We also offer other benefits including flexi-time, access to the local government pension scheme and a generous leave entitlement which all help towards ensuring you enjoy a sustainable work life balance.
