Attendance and Engagement Coordinator

Job introduction

Paid weeks per year: 44.85 (inclusive of holiday entitlement)

Hours: you must be at work between the hours of 8:30am and 4:00pm and you may be required to work any time between 8:00am and 5:00pm (evening meetings and training are in addition to this requirement). You will be expected to work term time and training (INSET) days.

Fixed Term: Until July 2023 (potential to extend)

Start date: As soon as possible

To provide support for pupils and their families in engaging in school and improving attendance.

  • Encourage the positive participation of the pupils in the learning environment of the school therefore improving the learning opportunities for those pupils.
  • Investigate the circumstance behind absence or investigate the circumstances contributing or causing children and young people to disengage in school.
  • When appropriate, help identify areas and resolve difficulties that may be causing a barrier to engagement in school
  • Provide a preventative approach by working with school, families and external agencies to identify likely causes of potential disengagement and provide advice on how to disable potential barriers

The Central Hub Brighton is the SEMH specialist provision for the city consisting of Brighton and Hove Pupil Referral unit and The Connected Hub and has three bases across the city.
