The future of the planning system is digital – and this role is opportunity to be at the forefront of delivering a digital planning system in one of the most exciting planning authorities in the country.
You will be leading a team that are championing and embedding digital approaches across the Corporation’s planning service as we develop a digital local plan; incorporate 3D digital modelling into our plan-making, decision-taking and engagement; deliver best-in-class monitoring of developments, with interactive map-based systems; and produce data-driven analysis and reports that provide insight and evidence.
You and the team will also deliver the Planning division’s vital data-driven functions including the local land and property gazetteer, street naming and numbering, land searches, and statutory planning monitoring.
The successful applicant will have a strong understanding of how digital systems can be developed and implemented successfully, with an understanding of how websites are developed, the use of 3D digital models, and GIS analysis and mapping. You will have the ability to commission and act as a client for the development of software systems. While knowledge of the planning system is not required, you will have a good ability to analyse legislation and policy and apply them to the requirements for systems and data. And you will have strong leadership abilities, with the skills to manage a team that cover a wide variety of projects, systems and processes.
