The Whitby High We are seeking to appoint a Maintenance Officer to join our Site Team to ensure the school premises are well maintained, safe, secure and clean.
The primary role of the Maintenance Officer will be to identify and undertake routine maintenance, repairs, improvement works to the school site. This will include all types of maintenance such as plumbing, joinery and decorating. The role will require somebody who takes pride in their job and who pays meticulous attention to detail. The successful candidate will need to have relevant, recent experience of maintaining buildings, a knowledge of security and health and safety requirements and an ability to undertake routine DIY tasks to a high standard. They will also need to be self-motivated, able to work unsupervised or as part of a team.
Normal working hours will be 7.5 hours per day (7 hours on a Friday), between 6am and 6pm, depending on shift pattern, with a 30-minute lunch break.
Flexibility of working hours is required to cover holidays, sickness absence and school lettings during evenings and the occasional weekend.
Annual leave to be approved according to the needs of the service and may be taken during term time. Further details will be discussed during interview.
