The Exchequer Services Section within Financial Services oversees the Council’s Income Management, Sundry Debt Management, Creditor Administration and Payroll processes.
An exciting Apprenticeship opportunity is offered to join the team and is open to applicants who are interested in a career in accountancy via an apprenticeship route.
The successful candidate will be enrolled on a suitable qualification with study time whilst gaining valuable on the job work experience as part of the Finance Team at Lancaster City Council. On successful completion of the apprenticeship you will be offered a permanent Exchequer Assistant role within the team.
We are seeking a highly motivated, organised and committed individual to fill the post. The post-holder will learn and eventually be responsible for processing payments and providing advice and support to officers across the Council on corporate payment procedures and the use of associated systems.
With a commitment to providing high quality customer service you should have a good standard of IT literacy and the ability to work accurately under pressure. We are looking for candidates with a positive ‘can do’ attitude with the willingness to learn new skills and promote and embrace change. You should also be a team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The hours of work for this position are 37 per week, working Monday to Friday. This post is subject to the flexible working polices and arrangements in place at Lancaster City Council.
The Council currently operates an excellent Flexible Working Hours Scheme which applies to this post. Subject to the needs of this business, this may allow employees to work between the hours of 6:00am-10:30pm.
