The post is permanent. The hours of work for this position are 37 hours per week, however requests for part time hours will also be considered. This post is hybrid with a combination of attendance at onsite and online meetings, bookable workspaces and working from home. Meetings may be in Lancaster, Morecambe or elsewhere in the District or County. Your assumed place of work will be Lancaster City Centre.
The Council currently operates an excellent Flexible Working Hours Scheme which applies to this post. Subject to the needs of this business, this may allow employees to work between the hours of 6:00am-10:30pm.
You will work collaboratively with our friendly and committed HR and OD team, partnering with people managers across the council to enable the delivery of pragmatic people solutions that address risk and enhance performance, and ultimately help to achieve business outcomes with sound HR advice.
You will help to embed our People Plan and develop our organisation for your areas of responsibility. We can promise that no two days will be the same - you will advise on a range of HR matters, both strategic and operational. Applying your specialist HR knowledge to a range of diverse issues and facilitating great people management will be your goal.

Our job description tells the full story, but you will be an experienced and talented HR person and getting the best out of people to deliver great organisational outcomes will get you out of bed in the morning.
You will have a deep and current understanding of the HR profession, including employee relations, talent management, resourcing, reward, and everything in between.
We are after a strategic thinker with great organisational skills, and building strong working relationships with colleagues, managers and trade unions will be a real strength.

As well as leading on day to day HR support and advice, you will use your skills, experience and expertise to successfully lead and deliver organisational and cultural change. This will in turn enable us to achieve our four council priorities:
